What Are the Fees, and Can I Pass Them to Customers?

1 min read

TicketShack keeps pricing simple, with one flat fee and no hidden charges. This guide explains what you pay and how to decide who covers it.

Our fee #

TicketShack charges a flat 5.9% + £0.50 per ticket sold. There are no setup fees, no monthly charges and no listing costs, and free events are free to run. The fee only applies when you make a sale.

Absorbing the fee vs passing it on #

When you set up a paid ticket, you choose how the fee is handled:

  • Pass it on to the customer — the fee is added on top of your ticket price at checkout, so you receive the full face value of every ticket.
  • Absorb it yourself — the fee comes out of your ticket price, so the customer pays exactly the price you set and you receive the face value minus the fee.

Which should you choose? #

Both are valid, and it depends on your event:

  • Passing the fee on protects your margin, and most buyers are used to seeing a booking fee at checkout.
  • Absorbing the fee keeps your advertised price clean and can help conversion on lower-priced or community events, where every pound is felt.

A common middle ground is to absorb the fee on early-bird tickets, to reward your first buyers, then pass it on for later releases. Whichever you choose, keep it consistent so nobody feels surprised at checkout.

Note  —  Fees are only ever charged on tickets you actually sell. If a ticket doesn’t sell, there’s nothing to pay.
